Twilight sat up in the Astronomy Tower late one night. A cold wind blew across the ground making her short, black hair move outwards. Temps wrapped her thin silk dressing gown around her tighter. She was only up here because she had had trouble sleeping. What she wouldn't give to be curled up in bed, dreaming peacefully like a lot of her housemates. Instead she sat there gazing up at the stars.
She sighed heavily knowing that in a few hours the sun would rise and Temps would have to sit a minor Potions paper. Her eyes looked from the stars down to the lake. It's surface was glassy and settled. It's jet black colour seemed to draw her in and Twilight got lost in thought . They consumed her easily; taking over. She was lst to the world around her as she focused in on what he mind wanted her to think.

Rydell walked silently down the corridors of the school, he wasn't a prefect but he was avoided by students and ghosts alike. Even Mrs. Norris avoided him when he walked at night. He strolled down the seventh floor corridor, taking the time to finish stripping off the last of the burned skin his body had healed, it was leaving a fleshy pink tone that was almost like a normal pale skinned boy.
He walked by the stair case to the Astronomy tower and caught the breeze blowing down the stairs. He stopped dead in his tracks as he looked at the stairs, no one usually let the door open so he decided to investigate. He moved slowly toward the stairs and began to walk up then, breathing deeply the scents coming off the wind. When he finally reached the doorway to the roof, he saw Twilight sitting by her self. He walked towards her, silent as the grave and stopped behind her. "Couldn't sleep?" he asked her

The silence was broken by a voice and Twilight spun around, causing her black gown to fan outt. Her heartbeat calmed once more to see it was only Rydell who had found her. She nodded quietly before saying, "Yeah. I thought maybe coming up her would calm me down a bit. Help me clear my head." Twilight turned away again to look across the grounds. Hogwarts seemed so still and lifeless at the moment, it was...strange. The castl was usually buzzing with so many different soudns and now silence suffocated it.
From somewhere deep in the forest a howl echoed breaking the deadly silence. Twilight wrapped her arms around herself before saying, "And what about you? Couldn't sleep or just wanted a night time wander?"

Rydell watched her as she turned around again and hugged herself, He sighed softly. "I am doing my normal routine, Just being awake at night and preferring to sleep during the day." he said to her, as he pulled his robe off, he held it out to her as he walked over and stood next to her, "Here, you look like your freezing." he said to her. "I don't want you to catch your death of cold." he said.
He looked out at the forest as the creature howled. "I love the night time, brings so much mystery to the school and it's grounds." he said to her. "We may never know if that howl was a lone wolf ora wolf trying to find it's pack." he said to her as he looked at the ground. "I have to ask why didn't you bring out anything warmer?"

"I've heard about you and night time wanderings from Peeves. but I believe very little of what comes from that Poltergiest's mouth." Temps laughed to herself and shook her head. She loved Peeves to bits but sometimes he was jusst too much to handle. Twilight looked at his robes and pushed it back towards him gently shaking her head. "I'll be fine. You'll freeze otherwise." Twilight wasn't use to help from others and she'd only met Rydell once and so it was slightly more strange to her.
As he moved onto the topic of the night she nodded. "I always loved the way that it seems to calm everything and that all of a sudden there's serenity." Her eyes landed on the forest, "We'll never know... I think their all wonderful creatures out there. I love the theatrals." Yes, Twilight was one of those who saw the , apparently, cursed creature. They were so gentle and loving that she often paid them a visit. Hearing Rydell's question she laughed, "hun, as stupid as it sounds I didn't actually think it was so cold out here. And I just needed to get out of the dorm and so picked up the first thing I could find."

Rydell glanced at her when she said she had heard about his night time wanderings. "Nope, I don't need it." he said to her, "My body heat is plenty warm enough for me." he said to her smiling. "The robes are just there for show for me." he said to her, he looked her up and down. If that was the first thing she grabbed he thought to himself picturing it slowly, No, no, you just met her. his mind screamed as he shook his head. "You really should of thought about grabbing a jacket though." he said to her
"It is really peaceful." he said to her, "Makes a person forget the mistakes they have made or the regrets they have fade a little easier." He said to her as he looked down at his feet. "I have made my fair share, what about you?" he asked her as he looked back at her.

"Well if you are sure..." twilight said as she took the robes from him. She was chilly and if wasn't like he was using them. Taking the robes from him Temps said, "Thanks." She placed them on and felt the thickness and the former warmth from him heat her body up quickly. "As lazy as it sounds I could be bothered to go searching for one in the dark. I would have just woken up and angered my dorm mates." she explained to him with a shrug.
Twilight sat on a raise part of the tower and listened to ydell. "Oh yes, I've made more than a fair share of mistakes. And sometimes I regret them and sometimes I don't. Right now....I guess I kind of am." Twilight thought of the current position she was in and knew that it would cost her dearly. She had known that as she was growing up but ignorance was bliss.

"What's going on right now?" he asked her as he looked over at her, his skin was getting goose bumps but it wasn't bothering him. "I mean if you want to tell me go ahead." he added. He looked up at the sky as the night time breeze picked up again. his untucked shirt fluttered slightly as he glance back at her.
Rydell felt the familiar hunger pangs starting to hit him and he sighed, Why now? His mind asked his body as he looked over at her. "I think some of your room mates might have deserved it then." he said to her as he glanced at her, "Waking them up while you look for your things." he said.

Twilight looked from the sky to Rydell and she didn't feel the need to snap and bite t him. For one she showed emotion like a human being and said softly and quietly, "my Dad's seriously ill at the moment and I know it won't be long...He's all I have. I have no friends or other family. I made the mistake of thinking he was always going to be there." Her eyes filled with tears and Twilight blinked them away quickly, not wanting to seem weak infront of Rydell. She saw his goose bumps and hopped off her sea, moving over to him. "You're cold." she said rubbing his arms gently.
"I really don't want to anger them." Twilight said. "I'm not exactly the most popular person around...well not with the girls anyways." Most of the boys 'loved' her. Bu the girls were a different story...

Rydell looked at her and sighed, "I'm sorry for making you think about it more." he said to her as he watched her move towards him, "I am always cold." he said, "Just part of who I am." he said. "I thought I told you this the last time we saw each other. I am your friend whether you like it or not." he said to her, "And I am gonna be here for you if you need me." he said to her with a warm smile. "Just remember that." he said as he looked at her.
Rydell nodded as he listened to her statement. "Well, The girls can suck it up and deal with it." he said, "If you need help just ask." he added. The wind kicked up a notch sending leaves flying up to the roof. He watched a couple soar past. "I think that it is time we moved this inside." he said as he looked around. "Lets get you some warm food." he said to her.

"It's not your fault. I would have been sitting up here thinking about it on my own anyways." she said to him. "I'm gonna have to deal with it at some point. It's pointless to just keep running." Twilight then smiled softly. "Thank you Rydell. It's the first time anyone's willingly wanted to talk to me and just been 'normal' with me without wanting to jump into bed." she said to him. It was nice to have intellegence around. "I'll remember." she told him with a genuine smile.
The wind had picked up and her hair ent wild. Twilight pulled the robe tight around her and nodded. "Yeah let's get inside, I have a feeling it'll end up raining soon." She moved past Ryadell to exit the tower and get into the warmth of the castle.

Rydell followed her with a smile. He had managed to crack the hard shell that was around her most of the time from what he had heard. "Rain is nice, but only when you have something to keep you warm that isn't a night gown or a robe." he said to her. "I need something to drink really bad." he added softly as his inner beast rumbled.
As they walked through the school in utter silence, the halls echoing their steps Rydell thought of a lot of things he could say but couldn't figure out how to put them to words. He thought and thought as they neared the dungeons and the painting to the kitchens. When they arrived he tickled the pear and they Entered. The house elves rushed up with a goblet for Rydell. Not needing to be told what he wanted. When he took it he took a long drink out of it, the red liquid staining his teeth red slightly. One of the house elves tugged on his leg and asked him to come with it Rydell nodded and followed setting his goblet on the table.

"Don't get me wrong. I adore being out in the rain an in thunderstorms, just right now, I want to be warm and cosy." Twilight said to him. She heard Rydell and said. "It won't take us two minutes to get down to the kitchen. I'm quite thirsty as it goes."
As they walked through the school her eyes fell upon the goissipy portraits. Never in her life had she believed paintings could cause so much trouble but rumors spread easily around Hogwarts and not because of the student. The silence was uncomfortable and she wanted to say something to Rydell but it wasn't going to happen. Twilight felt relieved when they reached the kitchen. As they enetered she watch the house elf bring Rydell a drink, she raised an eyebrow to this but let it go and asked for some pumpkin juice.
As Rydell was rushed off she sat down at a counter and picked up his goblet while waiting for her own. Surely he wouldn't mind if she took a sip. It look like wine. She smirked wondering if serectly there was an addiction. Twilight put her soft lips to the goblet and drank from it slowly. After a small sip she heaved and her eyes widened. It was not the taste and texure of wine but the thick coppery taste of blood. Blood? Rydell was drinking blood? It slot in with what Peeves said. And what Rydell had told her. He was a vampire.

Rydell finished his conversation with the house elf, apparently his blood supply was going to be ending soon as the house elves no longer had a supply. He sighed before turning and starting back toward Twilight, The house elves handed him the goblet of Pumpkin juice and bid him good night before they went off to start preparing the breakfast for the school again.
When he reached her the first thing he noticed was that she was holding his goblet. He grimaced slightly before he spoke, "Here is your pumpkin juice." he said to her as he extended his hand with it.

She held his gobet as he approach. Twilight discarded the comment about the pumpkin juie and spoke quietly. "You drink blood....so...you're a..a...vampire?" She didn't know what to think. Half brreds made her stomach turn, but Rydell was different. Twilight didn't want to scream abuse at him because of the kindness he had shown her.
