Alex or X, whatever you prefer to call Alexandria Goldstein, was in the Hufflepuff common room. She was getting rather bored and she was a very active person. She could barely ever just sit somewhere and do absolutely nothing. She was wearing some muggle clothes. It consisted of a red t-shirt and ripped blue jeans. She had black converses on as well. She had her ash wood wand in her front right pocket. She always kept it handy unlike some people who kept it in their cloak pockets or back pocket of the pants.
She decided to go outside. She reached outside of the the Hogwarts castle. It was a rather beautiful day if you are the type of person to look at the beauty of nature. The sun was high in the blue sky. A slight breeze was blowing her dark brown hair. She saw the whomping willow into sight. She gave a slight smile towards it. It brought back memories, but she didn't like to sulk on the past all the time. She didn't like people who just waited for things to happen as well.
She got closer to it and watched it. The limbs of the tree began to move. She was fifteen and didn't even compare to the great height of the tree. She stayed out of reaching distance though. She had been warned of the tree long ago. She heard a twig snap nearby along with someone coming. The tree hit the ground close to her, but still it was about a yard in front of her. She jumped a bit and turned to see who it was. "Blimey, give someone a heart attack." She gave a grin after what she said while waiting for the new comer's response.

Rayne shook her head twice to get rid of the thoughts of, Where are my acorns? Which tree? Hmm? Hmm?, that had to be one of the things she hated about her Animagus form, chipmunks had little thoughts and even littler to do. She knew it was a blessing but sometimes she just wanted to give it away, to someone who wanted to spend their time worrying about where they had put their acorns. One of her feet snapped a twig as she sighed, she was so noisy while she was in her natural form, she wasn't as sneaky that was for sure. She let out a light chuckle, that comment reminded her of her father for some reason.
Rayne saw the girl standing in front of the Whomping Willow before the girl had the chance to see her. She knew the girl, she was a fellow Hufflepuff, in her same year at that though they had talked little she knew that she could at least trust the girl. When she saw the girl react to her finally she shrugged, "And standing near that great tree isn't enough to give you a heart attack?" She questioned with a small smile on her face, though she wasn't looking at Alex as she spoke but at the tree. Rayne, like her father, shared the love of all things that grow, even the tree who seemed to be all bad truly wasn't. She had probably appealed to its better side though it still attacked her no matter what. She had talked to it before though... not that it answered back.
"Sorry, though, didn't mean to scare you." Rayne apologized as her hazel eyes fixed on Alex and her hair was blown into her face by the wind. It only took her a second to tie it back into a small pony-tail just so she could get it to stay away from her view. "Normally, no one is around here." Rarely would people get this close to the great tree, even she didn't do that sort of thing often. "I'm Rayne, in case you didn't know. We've only talked a few times so I can understand if you didn't so I just thought that I would tell you." She shut up as soon as she realized she was babbling because of nervousness.

Alex gave a laugh and said, "Nah, I think it is kinda brilliant actually. It is never predictable which makes it all the better." She liked things that were unpredictable. It made everything more exciting. It also came with more challenges, but then again more rewards as well. She had an odd way of thinking. It was probably why she was the talk-a-tive and bouncy personality. She couldn't help, but be that way. She had lost someone close and it opened her eyes to everything. You can only live once and therefore enjoy every minute of it. Good or bad.
She said, "It's fine. I was only joking." She had looked back and studied the tree a bit. She said, "I could imagine that. I really see nothing scary about the tree. Well if you look past the limbs trying to kill you." She gave a grin. She liked joking around. She knew Rayne. Rayne was in her house and year. She said, "I am Alex or X. People call me by both so I don't really care what people call me." She gave a shrug. "Yeah, we really should talk more." She finished. She was honest. She liked talking and was looking back at her. Her brown eyes meeting Rayne's eyes.

"Its a great tree. People just think its murderous but I know different. Obviously, you feel the same way." Rayne gave a small laugh and glanced at the tree that was waving its branches menacingly, "Oh, shush, you!" She joked lightly, just because it was a magical tree didn't mean that it had to listen. After talking for a few sentences, the shier more reserved Rayne was turning into the more playful but still not spontaneous Rayne. It helped that the two were alike in age and house, it made her feel more comfortable for some reason.
Rayne nodded at the just joking comment, but decided not to comment on it. She took a gulp as she saw the tree shake again, "It's not trying to kill you, its more of a way to protect itself from predators and other creatures wishing to harm it. Or maybe it is trying to kill you." She attempted to joke to distract from the book-like herbology answer she had given Alex. "I almost feel bad for it, no one ever comes out to see it anymore and it doesn't even get to hurt anyone anymore."
"I'll stick with Alex." A smile appeared on Rayne's lips, Alex seemed quite nice and it was good to have someone in a fellow house to talk with, sure she had Lily and a few others but other than that it was books to keep her company. And it was even less people who knew about the fact she was Animagus, she believed that the teachers had been informed by the Ministry, seeing as she had been registered but other than that there were few who knew the truth.
Rayne nodded twice in quick succession, "We should. I can say right now that you are much more interesting to talk to than an Mandrake.. or any plant for that matter. It helps when things talk back." Rayne met Alex's eyes with a laughing look. For some off reason she was in a joking mood, something rare for her, maybe it had been one to many acorns... better not think of acorns. Even while in her natural state, she sometimes craved the small objects and they were not really fun to eat.

Alex let a smile come to her lips. She said, "No way. It can't help it people are mean to it. If I was that tree I would trip everyone." She laughed at the idea of doing that. She found it very funny. She grinned at Rayne when she told the tree to shush. She said, "Brilliant! Now if only we could force the tree to listen once in a while it might be better." She acted like she was going to do the muggle kung-fu on it. She stopped and gave a short laugh. "I don't think kung-fu scared it any."
She gave an amused look. She said, "You must be good at Herbology." She was alright in the subject, but only enough to pass the class. She wasn't an expert in it. She heard her next comment about no one coming to see it. She said, "Alright, we should come and visit the Whomping Willow every day. Other people should to, but then again they would call us mental for even talking about the tree now." She gave a grin. She didn't care what people thought. Why waste your time on caring? Sure she liked having friends, but if they didn't like her for herself then she dropped them.
She heard 'I'll stick with Alex.' She gave a grin. She put an arm around Rayne. "Yes, we Whomping Willow lovers will stick together!" She had a few good friends. Though, friends always seemed to come and go with her. She hated that. She wished she could have one all time best friend, but hadn't found that yet. Maybe Rayne would be just that. She secretly hoped so. She said, "I hope I am more interesting to talk to than a mandrake. If I wasn't, I would think that I was boring." She liked to be active. She was the person to joke around. She wasn't a prankster, but loved to hear about a good prank. She liked Rayne right off and figured that their personalities matched. She thought she was nice as well. She said, "Yeah, that would complicate things if they didn't talk back.. Hmmm." She imagined it and giggled a bit.

"I agree. Though I'd probably trip them more than once." Rayne smiled, it felt good to joke around, to not have to worry about her classes and she was glad that Alex did not mind her weird sense of humor. Rayne just saw thing differently than most people, but even she couldn't help but laugh when she saw the other Hufflepuff try her hand at Muffle Kung Fu. "I don't know what would frighten that tree.. maybe fire but I'm to nice to do that." That remark would be funny to any who knew her, after all, a Longbottom hurting a tree is about as likely as a Potter becoming the next Dark Lord, not that there would be another one, she hoped.
Rayne nodded twice in quick succession, "It's my top class. I love things that grow." She added quickly, leaving out the fact that her dad was the Professor. It wasn't that important and if Alex didn't know at the moment Rayne certainly was not going to tell her. "We should. We can make a club for it," Rayne let out a small giggle, "The Whomping Willow has feelings too, right? People just need to be educated in its ways." It was very unlikely that any others would ever come to see the tree, even less likely that they would talk to it. Her hazel eyes went to look at the tree as it shook its branches in a supposed to be menacing manner, Psh. Don't scare me, silly tree, she thought to herself.
"Of course, if we didn't, well, I don't know where we W.W. lovers would be." Rayne told her in complete seriousness, the only thing that said otherwise was the small smile that played across her features. "Don't worry. No competition between the two of you, rather speak to you all day." The mood was light and Rayne quite enjoyed it, there was nothing better than having a good laugh in front of a giant murdering tree.. okay, she could think of a few things better but nothing was better than the laughter. "It's problematic but can be worked around... just don't talk to the Venomous Tentacula, it can be quite vicious at times." She nodded slowly as if to herself and then burst into a small fit of laughter, it wasn't so big though that it would make her seem crazy.
